What’s the biggest challenge you’ve ever faced while planning an event and how did you overcome it?

One of the biggest challenges I have faced is when a client is a micro-manager and thinks everything they do is correct and has no consideration for other family members involved. I sent the client an email expressing my concern about timing and consideration about what is going on. However, I blind copied 2 of the other family members on the email and advised them on what was going to happen on the day of the event so they knew what was happening.

What are 2 trends in the event planning industry that you’re excited about?

I’m super excited about the roaring ’20s and dress trends for different cultures.

What are some tips for creating an elegant and memorable event on a tight budget?

Don’t look at Pinterest! You will get overwhelmed and, if not, go over budget. It is better to have your vision of what elegant means to you and how will you be able to create a guest experience.

If you had unlimited resources, what would your dream client and event look like?

It would be sleek, elegant, modern with a twist. It has to have client visions with a pop.

How important are your relationships with vendors and what are some ways that you successfully cultivate and ensure good rapport?

Asking questions for every wedding we work on. Every client’s needs and wants are different and we need to communicate and be on the same page to ensure we are giving the best planning experience they need.

What advice would you give someone who needs to plan a fundraiser but isn’t sure where to start?

Make sure you have your 501 c3 letters ready, solicitation letter ready, and receipt ready to be sent out for donations.

What’s the most exciting thing on the horizon for you personally or professionally?

The most exciting thing on the horizon is always continuing to educate myself in the industry and being better.

What inspired you to launch your own company in the event industry? How long did it take from initially having the idea to setting up and starting to attract a client base?

I love what I did in a hotel setting but did not want to keep working for hotels. I wanted to get my name out there.

It took me about 4 months and one of my friends recommended me to my other friend and I did their wedding. And from there I took my time to grow.

What’s the first event you can ever remember planning and how did it go?

My very 1st event was me by myself and 600 guests! Yes I know I’m crazy, and I stayed in the business. I might have to say it went well. The client was happy with the turnout and experience and from there I grew the business at every wedding.

What are some things you wished you knew before starting your businesses?

I wish I had my business coach then. It would have saved me some money and headaches with a website and marketing.

What’s the most surprising or unusual request you have ever received from a client and were you able to fulfill it?

When a client needs 200 red apples, you go and purchase them.

Anything else you’d like to comment on while we have you?

I love what I do and it is not that stressful.
